Finally, Galaxy S3 has arrived to the SmartPhone Arena. Let’s us compare it to the recently launch HTC One X and other smartphone: Iphone 4s and Nokia Lumia 900.
Today, online storage market has gain some new player on the deck and it is getting crowder than before. So what’s the different between all of them? Below it’s the camparison between the new player like Google Drive and Skydrive and the experienced player which is Dropbox, Box, and Sugarsync.
From what we look at the table, it seems than Skydrive has the most capacity of 7GB and a whopping 25GB if you are an existing user. Google Drive has only 5GB but it has intergrate with Google Docs and apps which can allow user to do online collaboration and other stuff. The other competitor still going strong today but it seems they need to have some more killer features to differentiate them between the freshmen.
Cloud storage war has getting increasingly exciting. Microsoft has updates its own online storage “SkyDrive” and make it available in almost any Operating System. It supports Pc ,Mac, Windows Phone and IOS. Sadly there is no official android apps yet but Microsoft is kind enough to recommend some third-party apps.
Microsoft has allow live mail users to have 7GB of storage. However, if you are long time live mail(or hotmail) user, Microsoft has give a free generous upgrade to 25GB of online storage in a limited period. This is by far the largest amount of free online storage. This will post a lot of threat to the famous Dropbox which only give 2GB free storage and the enterprise focus Box which has 5GB free online storage.
After Instagram’s recent exciting integration into the Android world, it has reached over 1 billion downloads, in just 12 hour! That certainly caught some serious attention as the biggest player in Social Networks – Facebook, has an eyes on it and wanted to use Instagram to expand photo-sharing craze in mobile arena.
Instagram has taken the market by storm since its launch back in 2010. Sustained with only 13 employees, it has 30 million user base and expanding rapidly when it goes into Android platform.
Mark Zuckerburg has confirmed the news on his personal blog about to buying Instagram with a hefty price of USD$ 1 billion , and clarified that it won’t affect the current Instagram intergration. If I were Kevin Systrom or Mike Krieger (developers of Instragram), I must be shaking with joy right now! =)
Check out Mark Zuckerburg post and have your say in our comment column, is that a good move for both of the company or you beg to differ?
Now matter how it turns out, here’s to mobile photography and the simple joy it brings.Cheers and have a great day!
Having spent 5 days with my new HTC One X, it reassures me that it was one of the best decisions I have made. I don’t mean to super-impose my preference for it on you, but it is just my personal experience talking here. This phone is so well-rounded and close to perfection, I feel the urge to treat it like a living object.
Here are the 10 reasons why.
1) the LOOK
Doesn’t this just takes your breath away? The sleekness, the curves and the beauty that lies in its own category of simplicity. If a phone reflects the owner’s personality, I would say HTC One X’s beholder is someone seeking for perfection in the simplicity of life.
2) the Material
HTC is very generous with this One Series by featuring materials from top of the line. For instance, One X is encased with high-grade polycarbonate that is extremely light weight (you’ll notice once you hold it) and durable. The screen itself, it is an answered prayer as it features the Second Generation of Gorilla Glass, from non other that the world famed NY-based glass company, Corning.
(Do check out one of our post on “Augmented Reality” where we talked a little about Corning’s amazing visions for future)
3) the Screen
From the material of the screen, to the resolution of the pixels. HTC One X features a 4.7” 720p HD Super LCD 2 screen. You know when “720p”, “HD”, “Super” and “2” all comes together at once, it has got to be good! And it goes beyond that. What the brochure doesn’t tell you is that it has “extreme viewing angle”, meaning no matter how you tilt the screen, you can still see what is on the homescreen, VIVIDLY. even under broad sunlight.
4) the Camera
HTC One X comes with a 8MP camera. While the high number in resolution is getting common among other smartphones, it triumphs in the low-number category too, by featuring a fast f2.0 lens. What does this mean? It means your day of capturing darker-than-useful pictures in lowlight conditions are over! This aperture allows 44% more light to reach the image chip, thus the rave for the camera. And, of course, let’s not forget the unique ability to capture pictures while recoding on high definition. Oh, and the 4 different Smart Flash configurations and realtime view of varies preset filters are just cherry on top.
5) the Sound
In coherence with the design motto of this One Series, “Amazing Camera, Authentic Sound”, comes the incredible music enhancer of all time, a collaboration with Beats Audio.
It is not just audible through a Beats headset, it is made accessible to ALL headphones! Now, that is the true philosophy of sharing music! How it is done? HTC One X comes with built-in Beats Audio software, allowing you to watching films, YouTubes, games and of course your favourite tunes, all to the expense of amazingly enhanced experience.
It doesn’t stop here either! As seen on screen shots below, the software contains more than just one configurations for the Beats Headset, you can choose accordingly to your liking. If you have worked hard enough to get a new phone, I would say your ears deserve the best pampering it can get. And of course, to get the best out of the Beats Audio is by plugging in one of the Beats headsets. Previously, HTC gives out Beats headset for the first 300 One X buyers and they have just recently close the bundle package for the headsets too, unfortunately.
Here are the screenshot guidance to where you can find the configurations:
6) the Speed
One of the most talked-about features in the HTC One X has got to be the pioneering feat of having a Quadcore processor. If you are someone like me, who loathe the missed seconds of “loading…”, you will be amazed by how everything is that much quicker on this masterpiece. With Android Ice-cream Sandwich preloaded, the cunning hardware & the smooth transitions is a match made in heaven!
And usually, with speed & bright screen, there is always compromise on the battery, but not for One X. Compromise is not an options so it comes with a super intelligent 5th Battery Saver Core (yes, you counted right, it has 4+1 core) that helps maximize the efficiency of battery usage. From my usage (with data on, most of the day; and sometimes games too), it lasted for a close 20 hours.
*duration might varies according to usage*
7) the Fuzz, freed
If your playlist hasn’t been updated for a long time, because you dreaded the frustratingly confusing sync process of the file manager in most devices, things can’t be easier with HTC One X. Everything is a drag-&-drop away. Life sure feels better when you can keep your favorite tunes/ pictures/ movie in your pocket, anytime and anywhere.
8) the Ergonomics
This can only be spoken after having experienced the phone myself.
Being a designer, I am extremely meticulous about the ergonomics, or in other word, the comfort while interacting with object. In this case with the One X, it is absolutely love at first touch ! It feels incredible solid, despite the significantly lighter weight and the curves on all ends follows the shape of your palm well. The weight distribution is done in a way that the phone tend to stay in your palm rather than slipping out. The overall size is a good balance between having a big-enough screen yet easy to be held in one’s hand. The smooth texture is so well done that I find it hard to put it down.
9) the Little Things
With so many aspects taken care of, just when you thought things can’t possibly get better, well, it does. This amazing innovation comes in a adorably-neat recyclable packaging, making your purchase from world away a little more environment-conscious. It might not seem much, but it is a reflection of the company’s social responsibility, and I’d like to support that.
10) the Price
For budget conscious consumer, please don’t be put off by the amazing features this phone has to offer. It comes in a highly reasonable price, retailing at RM2099. It is a steal for such a price if viewed in comparison with other models in the same league. If taken with a data plan bundle, it goes even lower.
Here are some information of pricing of our 4 major local telco companies.
Alrights, that concludes “Why you should love the HTC One X” and I hope it has help conveyed the information you needed to get to know more about this device.
Should you have any questions regarding this device, feel free to drop us a line in comments, we will try our best to answer them. Until then, I hope you have a great time reading, and have a great day! Cheers!
The long awaited Asus Padfone has just started to talk pre-orders on Taiwan. It’s one of the most innovative product that have been announced last year. What Asus did was taking its own transformer prime and made it into three transformation: phone, tablet, and netbook.
The price for the phone alone is priced at NT$ 17,990(RM1867) . While the bundle package of the phone, tablet dock, and a 2-in-1 bluetooth earpiece/stylus will set you back to NT$ 24,980 (RM 2595), which is RM100 more than the price of an iphone 4s 32GB(RM 2499). I think it’s quite a bargain as you get a phone AND a tablet with that price. If you opting for the keyboard dock as well, expect to pay another NT$ 3291 (RM341), making a hefty total of RM 2936. That might seem like a very high price for most consumers because it is as the same price as some Ultrabooks in the market right now.
The phone itself is quite a looker, it features Asus own design mythology called “Zen”. It has a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED display, Dual-core Snapdragon S4, 8 megapixel with f2.2 camera and it runs on Android Ice-cream Sandwich! For the tablet, it’s actually a display dock for the Padfone. All the processes is executed with the phone’s hardware. When slotted into the display dock, it will instantly output the current phone homepage into a tablet view. You don’t need to restart your phone in order to use Android 4.0 tablet version.
You can use the 2-in-1 stylus/ bluetooth earpiece to take notes, draw, and even use it to make calls. It’s a clever design so you don’t need to hold your tablet near to your face or unplugged the phone to get the calls.
With the keyboard, your tablet will transform into a netbook, allowing you to type easily on your lap.The keyboard dock also gives you USB port,HDMI port and SD slot. Not just that, each of the docks has built-in battery, which means you can get 5 times more battery with the tablet dock, and combine it with the keyboard dock you can get a total 9 times of battery life compare to the phone battery itself. That is a lot of handy battery life! That might just end your dilemma of opting to play your favourite game or save the battery for emergency!
The Padfone is kind of a good deal if you looked at the features and the freedom of cool transformation the docks allow you to have. Each of the transformation, it opens up a new possibility for you to experience a totally different device, a phone, a tablet , a drawing pad AND/OR a netbook? Life has got to be good if you’re spoilt with so many choices~
Take a look of the video that what Padfone can be in your life.
From the previous press leak about the Galaxy S3. Phonearena uncovered a leaked shot of the codename GT-9300 not long ago. The picture showed that it’s running android 4.0 and also featured a buttonless design just like Nexus.
The spec of this device also leaked half of the details. For now we know that it will running a Exynos 1.4 Ghz dual core processor just like Galaxy Note. It also has a smaller 4 ” screen with ARM Mail-400 MP graphics and 720p display.
From our observe this can’t be the new Galaxy S3 and since Samsung already released Galaxy S Advance, it will most probably a minor update for the Galaxy S2. We still can’t be sure yet but we will let you all know when we found out. Stay tuned.
